Ok - so not looking forward to flying...

So we are planning a trip back to Maryland and PA for the Holidays, and we have to fly.  So, scan or grope?  And what if they want to accost the kids?  What are my options?  I almost feel as if I am going in for a check up at the doctor's office.  Do I turn my head and cough?  I'm not sure what I will do if they tell me that they have to subject my children to and such "love tap"?
Let's be intellectually honest here - I am a white (very white - can't dance, can't jump...), blue-eyed, veteran that would be the first one to defend my friends and family against anyone who would do them harm without hesitation.  It's gone too far.  Let's take a look at what security systems are working - El Al comes to mind.  Think a terrorist is going to board an Israeli Jetliner?  Fat chance.  Know why?  Profiling.  They don't use body scanners or pat downs as an initial tool in securing their airlines.  They use something much more low-tech.  Questions and observations.  See a guy sweating in November - ask him a few questions, look him in the eye and get on with it.
I will have to "do as I am told" in order to not wreck Christmas for my family and myself, but not without some serious pause and question about why all of this is necessary.  I am going through security with my two children and my beautiful wife - sending my shoes, my belt and my dignity through a scanner.
This country needs to toughen up and do what needs to be done without worrying about hurting feelings.  If you don't have anything to hide, answer a couple of questions and be on your way.  It's that easy.  No groping.  No X-Ray.  No kidding.
