Out of the freezer...

My new bike - in hibernation!
Hope it drys out around here for a
few days anyway.
After a whirlwind trip to Maryland Pennsylvania we are back in the PNW.  We had a wonderful time with friends and family though all too short.  So looking forward to being closer to family back East again soon!
Our visit up to PA went well, though we didn't get to see the extended family as the Southworths took to the road and spent the Christmas Holiday at Tim and Molly's in VA.  We are dieing to see Nate before he starts college.  That will be at the top of our list come July.  As it were, over the Christmas trip, we only spent a grand total of 6 hours with my side of the family and less with friends - just not enough time to do anything.
This year brought no snow storms though.  Last year we landed and awoke the following morning to ~ 5" of snow - go see what it looked like in our back yard here.  Before it all ended we had about 30".  This year, just bone chilling cold every day until the day we left.  It was supposed to climb all the way up to 45*!  Landing in Seattle - temperature on the ground was 28* at 2:30PM!
So the cold has, after a full week, given way to...you guessed it, rain!  So my bike remains in the garage on it's gravity rack.  The beater (my 35lb Diamondback mountain bike with aerobars and slicks) has been filling in during the wet weather of the long Seattle winters.  Also, the ice around here just doesn't go away!  As we are so far up in the Northern Latitudes, the sun never gets more than about 25* above the horizon.  Not nearly high enough to warm the paths and streets.  Huge patches of ice make it a death ride to get out on the bike.
So it's off to the gym and the stationary bike.  Weeeee...
